Deac finishes 3rd in points at South Boston Speedway for the 2008 Season.

Deac Wins Again At South Boston Speedway!

Deac McCaskill started on the pole and scored a flag-to-flag win in the 150-lap race for the Barkhouser Late Model Stock Car Division that highlighted Saturday night's Southside Virginia Community College 150 racing program here at South Boston Speedway.

The win was McCaskill's second victory of the season at South Boston Speedway and the pole win was his first pole win of the season.

2nd and 3rd place finishes in Twin 75s at South Boston Speedway 7-12-08

This weekend, Deac ran twin races of 75 laps each. He qualified 3rd for the first race based on his first lap and qualified 6th for the 2nd race based on his 2nd lap. In the first 75 lapper, Deac fought for the lead with the 50 car of Wayne Ramsey. For the majority of the race, Deac and Ramsey fought nose to tail, and often door to door for the lead, but due to an increasing loose condition in his car, Deac was never able to complete the pass on Ramsey and finished 2nd. The 2nd 75 lapper of the night saw Deac battle his way up to the leaders from 6th place. After managing to get up to 3rd place, Deac set his sights on the leaders who were battling for the lead a full straightaway and about 2 seconds in front of him. It took the better half of the race but Deac did manage to catch the leaders to within a .8 second behind, nose to tail 1st through 3rd, but just as he caught the top 2 and was prepared to pass them, the loose condition came back and the leaders gained a bit of a lead on Deac. Due to the looseness of his car, Deac was unable to gain anymore on the leaders and finished 3rd. Thanks again for everyone that showed up at South Boston Speedway! See you back there in 2 weeks!

Deac finally WINS the Baileys 200 at South Boston Speedway!!!!

After placing 3 consecutive 2nd place finishes,  Deac was able to finally close the deal and win  the Baileys 200, and $5000, on July 3rd at South Boston Speedway. This is Deac's 1st win of the season and brings Deac close to 80 career wins.

Deac qualified 3rd but didnt gain the lead until lap 150 as Deacs car really began to hook up to the track. After battling with 2nd place runner Faulk in the 40 car for the majority of the race, Deac tried the high line and was finally able to pass him on the outside. Deac then set sights on the leader, Philip Morris who was about a straightaway in front of Deac. A caution would have helped Deac to make up such a great deficit but a caution would not come, so Deac had to make up that time the hard way, by running the leader down. And that is exactly what Deac did, it took Deac about 15 laps to do it but he finally caught the leader and also passed Morris on the outside to take the lead. The remainder of the race went without a caution and Deac continued to expand his lead over 2nd place to well over a straightaway as he checked out from the field.

This was one of Deacs biggest wins of his career and one that he will absolutely remember, having to overcome such difficulties this year and coming so close to victory, and finally achieving it, Thanks to all the fans that showed at South Boston Speedway this past Thursday night, we all hope that we put on a great show for you and hope you enjoyed the night! We are humbled by everyone that has congratulated us, thank you very much!!

The whole McCaskill Crew would like to wish everyone a very safe and happy 4th of July weekend! Hope to see you all again at South Boston Speedway on next Saturday, July 12th!

Yet another 2nd place finish at South Boston Speedway

For the third race in a row Deac finishes 2nd just short of a win. Full race recap to come soon

Another 2nd Place finish at South Boston Speedway 6-14-08

The raceday started out bright and sunny and Deac was thrilled with his car. After the first of three practices, Deac decided he didn't need anymore practice and watched as everyone else dialed in their cars. As qualifying approached, dark skies began to roll in as the weather forecast predicted severe thunderstorms, but the weather held off until after all qualifying was finished, in which Deac qualified 3rd. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate for the rest of the evening and the race was forced to be postponed until Sunday the 15th.

With Sunday rolling around and racing beginning in the early afternoon rather than late at night, some drivers were worried about what their cars would do in the midday heat but Deac felt  that his car would still be good. As green flag racing began, Deac was strong but faded back a few positions. After falling back and due to a wreck earlier in the race which left speedy dry all over the track, it was very difficult to gain any positions on the top 5, but a late race caution in which the 2nd and 3rd place drivers were involved in a wreck, Deac found himself in 2nd place yet again, but unlike the last race in which he finished 2nd, the leader could not pull out and get a huge lead on Deac. The leader and Deac remained bumper and bumper for a good 30 laps and Deac was ready to pass the leader but with nearly 5 laps to go the caution came out, leaving the race to come down to a green-white-checkered finish. The late caution was not in Deac's advantage as Deac's car was better on log runs. With only 3 laps left, Deac could remain on the leader's bumper but could not quite pass him, and Deac settled for another 2nd place finish.

We hope to see you all at South Boston Speedway this Saturday night as we return for another night of racing! Have a great weekend!

May 31, 2008 Results

Deac has been getting better and better with this car as he learns more and more about it every week. He qualified 5th for this weeks race and managed to contend for the lead shortly after the start of the race. He fell back to 4th but as other cars started to fade, Deac remained strong and managed to finish 2nd in the 150 lapper event. Our next race is not for another 2 weeks on June 14th at South Boston Speedway. Hope to see you there!!!
